Construction Jobs We Deliver Dumpsters For
Construction debris is heavier and more varied than household junk. We deliver containers for:
- Roof tear-offs: shingles, underlayment, flashing and decking.
- Demolition: interior gutting, garage and shed teardowns, and slab pieces.
- Additions and new builds: framing offcuts, drywall, packaging and trim.
- Remodels: cabinets, tile, flooring and plumbing fixtures.
- Fence and siding replacement: panels, boards and posts.
Work is performed by independent professionals.
Why Roofing Sets the Pace Here
Reroofs are the job we size most often, and the county's own brochure explains why they need a container. The Charlotte County transfer-station brochure says the Mid-County Mini-Transfer Facility does not accept reroofing material, and it limits construction and demolition debris to 6 cubic yards per fiscal year. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey (2020-2024, table S2504) shows about 43% of Port Charlotte's 27,888 occupied homes were built from 1980 to 1999 and about 37% from 1960 to 1979, which puts many roofs past their first replacement. A dumpster is the practical route for a tear-off.
The Permit Number and the Landfill Rate
The permit number decides what the load costs to tip. The landfill's page says scale house staff verify the number in the county's permitting software, and a load without a valid number is charged the out-of-county rate. On a 5-ton roofing load, $49.88 per ton is $249.40 and $99.74 per ton is $498.70. On a permitted job, read us the number when you order. Our dumpster permit guide explains the difference between this number and a placement permit.
Which Size Fits a Construction Job
Size follows the weight as well as the volume. Box dimensions are CustomTruck's outside measurements, and weights are Dropcurb's national figures.
| Job | Size | Outside dimensions | Weight usually included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bathroom gut, small deck | 10 yard | 12 x 8 x 3.5 ft | 1 to 2 tons |
| Kitchen remodel, average roof | 20 yard | 22 x 8 x 4 ft | 2 to 3 tons |
| Garage demolition, addition | 30 yard | 22 x 8 x 6 ft | 3 to 5 tons |
| Large demolition, commercial roof | 40 yard | 22 x 8 x 8 ft | 4 to 6 tons |
CustomTruck lists garage demolition and extensive remodeling under the 30-yard and commercial roofing under the 40-yard.
Keeping Heavy Loads Under the Weight Limit
Dropcurb says shingles, dirt and concrete trigger tighter tonnage caps and faster overage charges, and overage runs about $50 to $150 per extra ton nationally. Keep dirt and concrete out of a mixed load, tarp the box before rain, and ask for a size one step down on dense jobs. Rain matters here: NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Port Charlotte 6.2 W station (US1FLCH0013) record 58.16 inches of precipitation a year, so wet shingles are routine.
